"From cutting fluid to paint line – full-process filtration and separation solutions for machining and coating industries."

In machining and coating production, cutting fluids, rinsing liquids, and paints are prone to contamination by chips, oil residues, and other impurities during long-term recirculation, affecting processing quality and equipment life. CREST focuses on providing hydrocyclones and bag filters, delivering efficient and reliable liquid filtration and purification solutions for the industry.

Key Applications:

Cutting Fluid Circulation Treatment

● Process

Cutting fluids serve cooling, lubrication, and chip removal in CNC machine tools and machining centers. Return fluid from the machine sump is pumped to the nozzles, carrying substantial amounts of metal chips, grinding dust, and tramp oils (way oil, hydraulic oil, etc.).

● Problem:

Chips and dust clog nozzles, causing uneven cooling and accelerated tool wear. Tramp oils emulsify and degrade the fluid, shortening its service life, increasing waste disposal costs, and compromising workpiece surface quality.

● Solution:

Install a primary hydrocyclone in the return line or at the pump discharge to rapidly separate heavy chips and grit, followed by a secondary bag filter for fine filtration to capture suspended particles. This combination significantly improves cutting fluid cleanliness, eliminates nozzle clogging, extends tool life, and multiplies the fluid change interval

Coating Pretreatment

● Process:

The pretreatment line includes pre-degreasing, main degreasing, multi-stage rinsing, conditioning, and phosphating. Bath solutions are continuously circulated through spray or dip applications to remove oils, condition the surface, and form a conversion coating.

● Problem:

Oil agglomerates in degreasing baths, residual particles in rinse tanks, conditioner lumps, and phosphate sludge accumulate over time, contaminating the baths. This reduces cleaning efficiency, impairs conversion coating uniformity, leads to rusting or poor paint adhesion, and shortens bath life.

● Solution:

Install hydrocyclones in the circulation lines of each process bath to separate and remove solid particles above a certain size, protecting nozzles from clogging.

Coating Paint Filtration

● Process:

In the electrodeposition (e-coat) line, paint is continuously circulated by the main pump and passes through an ultrafiltration (UF) system for paint recovery. In the paint mix room, raw paint is pumped through a circulating system to spray stations. Both stages require filtration to ensure film quality.

● Problem:

E-coat paint is vulnerable to contamination by grease, gel-like impurities, and foreign matter (weld spatter, dust) carried in from car bodies, causing pinholes, surface roughness, and UF membrane fouling. In the mix room, undispersed pigment agglomerates and particles lead to cratering, orange peel, and other defects – especially unacceptable for high-appearance finishes.

● Solution:

Install oil-absorbing filter bags in the e-coat main circulation to remove grease and adhesives, followed by high-precision bag filters to trap fine particles – protecting the UF system and improving e-coat film smoothness. In the paint mix room, bag filters are placed on the supply line. This combined approach effectively reduces coating defects and enhances surface gloss.
